<br />8. PERSONAL TIME OFF (PTO) - LEAVE WITH PAY <br /> <br />8.1 General <br /> <br />Eligibility: Full-time Employees who have worked for the City for at least six <br />months are eligible to accrue annual Personal Time Off leave (PTO) from the date <br />the Employee is hired. PTO will be available for use as it is accrued according to the <br />schedule below. <br /> <br />8.2 Accrual <br /> <br />Rate of Accrual: Full-time Employees shall earn PTO leave at the following rates. <br /> <br />Years of Service <br />o through 5 years <br />6 through 10 years <br />11 through 15 years <br />16+ years <br /> <br />PTO Earned <br />6.77 hours per pay period <br />8.31 hours per pay period <br />9.85 hours per pay period <br />11.38 hours per pay period <br /> <br />Accrual While Using: Employees using earned PTO shall be considered to be <br />working for the purpose of accumulating additional PTO. <br /> <br />8.3 Requirements <br /> <br />Usage: Personal Time Off (PTO) Leave may be used as earned, subject to approval <br />by the Department Supervisor or City Administrator. PTO may be taken in <br />increments of one hour or more. Up to a maximum of 176 hours of accrued PTO <br />may be carried over to the next year. <br /> <br />Procedure: To be eligible for PTO leave with pay, an Employee shall report as <br />soon as possible to his or her Department Head the need to take personal leave and <br />its estimated duration. Requests to use PTO shall be received at least twenty-four <br />hours in advance of the requested time off. This notice may be waived at the <br />discretion of the City Administrator. <br /> <br />Pay-Out of PTO Leave: The rate of PTO pay will be the Employee's regular rate <br />of pay in effect at the time of PTO request. In the event of termination in good <br />standing, all earned PTO will be paid at the Employee's regular rate of pay. <br /> <br />Use of PTO Leave during a Holiday: Holidays occurring during an Employee's <br />PTO leave will be considered a holiday and the Employee will not be charged for PTO <br />on that day. <br /> <br />Coordination of PTO Leave with Family and Medical Leave: In order to allow <br />coordination of Personal Time Off leave with Family and Medical Leave, Employees <br />seeking to take PTO may be required to provide enough information about the purpose <br />of the leave to allow a determination of whether the leave will also qualify for Family <br />and Medical leave. <br /> <br />Page 16 of 46 <br />Adopted 11-09-2005 <br />
