Recognizing that the <br />City currently is not open for business on <br />Fridays, employee~ shall receive monetary <br />compensation for any designated paid holiday which <br />falls on a Friday. In addition, the following <br />holidays will be given with no pay: Martin Luther <br />King Day, Good Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, <br />and Columbus Day. The City Hall shall be closed <br />on such holidays, but employees may be required to <br />work on holidays when the nature of their duties <br />or other conditions require. If an employee must <br />work on a designated paid holiday, he/she shall <br />receive "time off" equal to the average number of <br />hours worked per day in the preceding year versus <br />monetary compensation, not to exceed eight (8) <br />hours per day. The "time off" shall be taken <br />within 12 months of the date of the paid holiday <br />or the employee shall forfeit such "time off". <br /> <br />When the paid holidays fall on Sunday, the <br />following Monday is a paid holiday, and if such <br />day falls on Saturday the preceding Friday <br />(Thursday) is a holiday. <br /> <br />AMEND TO READ: <br />Holidays. The following ten (10) calendar days and <br />such other days as the Council may fix are paid <br />holidays; New Years Day, Martin Luther King Day, <br />Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, <br />Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, <br />Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day. All permanent <br />employees in regular positions are entitled to <br />time off with full pay on the eight (8) listed <br />holidays.
