<br />Pursuant to due eland thereof <br />held a regularly scheduled meeting <br />1992 at the City Hall. Acting Mayor <br />order at 7:00 p.m. Present: <br />Buckbee, Burgstahler. <br /> <br />the Centerville City Council <br />on Wednesday, February 26, <br />Pelton called the meeting to <br />Wilharber, Dario. Absent: <br /> <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Letter to State Leiisl~~ <br />Motion by Wilharber, second by Dario to approve sending a letter <br />to the State Senators, State Representatives, the House and <br />Senate Tax Committee and Governor Carlson as drafted by Council <br />member Pelton with data to be completed by the City staff, motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />The City Council and Staff thanked Council member Pelton for <br />drafting the letter. <br /> <br />A copy of the letter is on file with the Clerk/Administrator. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Dirt Bike Racing - R~e.st for Special Use Permit. <br />Circle Pines/Lexington Police Chief Dave VanBurkleo s present <br />at the meeting to address this issue. Chief VanBurkl 0 advised <br />that the permit for activity on Centerville Lake is con rolled by <br />Anoka County. He noted that his concern regarding the event <br />would be the ice conditions (thickness). Chief anBurkleo <br />advised that he was confident that Anoka County would do a good <br />job of keeping track of the ice conditions. He also requested <br />that the promoter of the race help enforce any lim"ts to the <br />number of vehicles on the ice. <br /> <br />Council member Dario noted that he attend the dirt bike race last <br />week. He noted concern that spectators were standing to close to <br />the race area. <br /> <br />Buzz and Marie Arndt, promoters of the event, were p esent to <br />address any City Council questions or concerns. <br /> <br />Mr. Arndt noted: <br />-Spectators must be 20 feet away from the race area for <br />insurance purposes. He noted that a 20 fa t plowed <br />area is around the race track. Spectator are now <br />allowed past the 20 foot plowed area. <br />-Persons in orange vests will be monitoring the sit ation to <br />assure that spectators respect the 20 foot dis ance. <br />-Anoka County is only allowing five vehicles on the ice at a <br />time. The promoter vehicles will be the five vehicles <br />accessing the ice. <br />-It is understood that the entire event may be can eIled by <br />Anoka County due to ice conditions. <br />-The bikes are mufflered and have to pass a 92 decimals <br />testing. <br />-Sign up begins at 7:00 a.m., practice at 10:00 a.m., race <br />
