<br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City Council of the <br />City of Centerville held a special meeting August 31, 1988 at <br />Centerville City Hall. Mayor L'Allier called the meeting to <br />order at 7:05 p.m. Present: Fritchie, Burgstahler, Neumann. <br />Absent: Wilharber. <br /> <br />Clerk advised that she contacted the following locations for <br />storage of squad car/officers: <br />-Ro-So Contracting did have indoor storage for the car and <br />space for an office. The cost per month would be $475 <br />per month. <br />-St. Genevieve Church did not have storage space for a squad <br />car in their new garages. <br />-The Centennial School District discourages permanent use of <br />the school for regular meetings. They may look at use <br />for meetings on a temporary basis, possibly a one year <br />period. However, this would have to be decided by the <br />School Board. The current cost to organizations is $30 <br />per evening from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The actual <br />cost to the City, if any, would be considered when a <br />request for use would be made to the School Board. All <br />meetings must end by 10:00 p.m. so that custodians can <br />clean up and close the building. <br />-Eagle Trucking offered outside storage in a fenced in area <br />for the squad car at no charge to the City. <br /> <br />Tim Ross, submitter of the Centerville Police Department proposal <br />was present. When asked, he noted that the police officers <br />should be situated with the City Office to prevent duplication of <br />office equipment and to aid in communication. <br /> <br />Clerk noted that the 1989 Lion Lakes Police service would cost <br />Centerville approximately $68,000. The estimated cost for the <br />1989 Centerville Police Department is approximately $82,000. <br /> <br />Clerk also advised that Lino <br />rewording for the 1989 Lino <br />regarding priority of service <br />revised wording would leave <br />officer in charge at that time. <br /> <br />Lakes has submitted proposed <br />Lakes Police Service Contract <br />between the two cities. The <br />the priority of the calls to the <br /> <br />Clerk noted that Police Chief, Dean Campbell advised that <br />Centerville would be expected to pay for mutual aid during times <br />that Centerville did not have an officer on duty in their City. <br />Clerk noted that this can legally be done, per Captain Netko of <br />the Anoka County Sheriff's Office, however, they had not heard of <br />this being practiced with any other City. Captain Netko noted <br />that the charge could be on a per call basis. Clerk also noted <br />that she did discuss the matter with Chief VanBurkleo and he also <br />had not heard of cities charging for mutual aid with regard to <br />police protection. Clerk did contact Columbus Township that has <br />an eight hour, five day per week contract with Anoka County. <br />Columbus Township advised that they have received assistance from <br />Lino Lakes many times and that they have never been charged for <br />
