Fire District: The fire district had been started and has continuted to grow, it has and will continue to have growing pains, but it was and is a way to better serve the cities it supports. 16. Flood Plain Information / Plans: Information meetings have been held with residents, DNR, Watershed and adjoining communities in regards to flood plain and water shed problems. 17. City Cable: The capability to serve the residents with city information over the city cable (Channel 16) station has been started and due to prior to this time of finding volunteers to assist the city staff has been unable to fully utilize its potential, it may now be a way that residents may be able to be kept more aware of the city actions. Council meetings are now going to be taped and televised for the information for all city residents who subscribe to cable to wateh and be better informed concerning council meetings. 18. Buried cable services: New developments now have to have buried elec- trical, telephone and TV cable, this makes for a better appearance in the city. 19. Comparable worth: The city is working for a compatable comparable worth for its present and future employees. 20. Engineer liasion: This past year has also seen a councilmembers (2) liasion with the city engineer to work out problems and/or questions that the city has or has had. 21. Historical ~ommittee: This has been recently established and future progress should be made in this area also. 22. Budget: Improvements have been within the city budget for planning for the future, erasing deficits and attempting to establish a slight reserve for the city. 23. Snow Plow Truck: We have purchased a more up todate snow plow truck with a side wing to take care of city plowing ne~ds. 24. Sidewalks: The city has installed sidewalks around the city hall with handicapped ramps and improved the city parking lot both at the end of Sorel St and also at City hall at very little cost to the city by utilizing Government Block Grant Funding. 25. Tax Base: The present taxing system de4Uction for the next two years 1989 & 1990 have been established by the present 'council. Reason is that you pay the previous year in the following year. 26. Industrial & Commerical Developments: Many new requirements for dev- elopers have been established in regards to landscaping, types of buildings, etc for the city. 27. Road Maintenance Program: ~A road maintenance upkeep fund was started in 1985 in order to start a dedicated program of sealcoating, sweeping, fixing potholes, etc, where in the past, no funding was programmed for this area. 28. Street Naming Committe: Was established during this time period. 29. City Installed Improvements: The city council is presently working on a ordiance for city installed improvements, this will protect the city in years to come, rather than maybe having a developer ~ put in the best improvements, i.e., sewer, water, roads, etc. \~\ (q(t.4 gppra 30. City Sidewalks: Concrete sidewalks are now going to be installed on new additions on arterial streets. 31. Tax Increment Financing: This was a totally new venture that was started in 1987. 32. Recycling: The recyling effort has been started and Centerville was the first city in Anoka County to have a curbside recyling effort with the fine support of Lake Sanitation. 33. New City Engineer: Was picked from a multi selection of applicants a few years ago. 34. Senior Citizen Sewer Reduction Rate: A deduction is provided senior citizens in the city who are on the city sewer system. 35. Building Fund: A building fund has been established this past year in order to provide better facilities for city operations in the future without having to have a special assement in the future for a long needed better facility.
