<br />Highway Section Termini <br />Centerville Road (CSAH 21) from Lamotte Drive to Westview Street <br /> <br />20th Avenue (CSAH 54) from Center Street to Main Street (CSAH 14) <br /> <br />Adjacent Land Use <br />The land use along the corridor includes residential neighborhoods, employment <br />centers, commercial and public land (including regional parks and schools). <br /> <br />Road Usage <br />Main Street (CSAH 14) maintains a higher than average volume of truck traffic. <br />Many of these trucks are traveling between the industrial area along Centerville <br />Road and Interstate 35E. No other unusual traffic or road uses occur within the <br />trail corridor. Centerville Road (CSAH 21) and 20th Avenue (CSAH 54) do not have <br />higher than average truck traffic. <br /> <br />HorizontalNertical Alignment <br />The trails generally follow existing roads and have a straight horizontal alignment. <br />The vertical alignment of the trail will follow the existing roadways. The <br />Centerville area is generally flat. <br /> <br />Bridge Crossings <br />Bridge No. 02J01 carries 20th Avenue (CSAH 54) over Clearwater Creek. The trail <br />along 20th Avenue (CSAH 54) will cross this existing bridge. A new pedestrian <br />bridge may be constructed as part of this project to cross Clearwater Creek <br />immediately SE of City Hall. <br /> <br />Railroad Crossings <br />No railroad crossings are involved in this project. <br /> <br />Traffic Signals <br />No traffic signals are involved in this project. A traffic signal will be installed at <br />the intersection of Main Street (CSAH 14) and 21st Avenue (CSAH 54) as part of the <br />ongoing CSAH 14 reconstruction project. A future signal is planned for the Main <br />Street (CSAH 14) and Centerville Road (CSAH 21) intersection. Facilities for <br />pedestrian crossings will be considered with the proposed and future signals. <br /> <br />III. PROJECT PURPOSE AND NEED <br /> <br />Project Purpose <br />The purpose of this project is to encourage pedestrian/bicycle transportation by <br />completing key links in the City of Centerville's existing trail system and <br />connecting to the regional trail system. The project will improve the safety and <br />convenience for bicyclists and pedestrians. <br />
