Parks & Recreation Committee <br /> Meeting Minutes 02-04-09 <br /> <br /> <br />City Council had asked the committee to look at upcoming projects as well as a 5 Year Capital <br />Improvement Plan. In just brainstorming at this meeting, with a more thorough discussion to follow at the <br />next meeting, these are some items the committee listed: <br /> <br />2009 Expenditures <br /> <br />? <br /> <br />Tracie McBride Memorial Park Renovation, Phase II, includes basketball court. <br />? <br /> <br />8K Run (Approved). <br />? <br /> <br />Signage (Approved) Hours & Rules in all parks, some specialty signs in Hidden Spring Park. <br />? <br /> <br />Park Monument Signs, replace the signs in the other 4 parks to match the ones in Hidden Springs <br />and Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park, move the monument sign at Tracie McBride Memorial Park <br />? <br /> <br />Trail Directional Signs on all trails. <br />? <br /> <br />Lighting in all of the parks need to be reviewed, the committee would like consistency among the <br />parks. This is also a public safety issue. Six lights would potentially be required. <br />? <br /> <br />The committee would like to implement a ‘Music in the Park Program’, with funding the first year <br />approximately $1,500 for three (3) events. <br />? <br /> <br />Eagle Park tree trimming (Volunteers and Public Works). <br />? <br /> <br />Buckthorn Eradication in all parks. <br /> <br />Yearly Events <br /> <br />? <br /> <br />Skate Nights with (1) Horse Drawn Hayride - $1000. <br />? <br /> <br />Battle of Bands / Boards held twice, once during Fete des Lacs - $2000. <br />? <br /> <br />Summer Programs / Park Play Days - $1,500. <br />? <br /> <br />Music in Parks – $1,500 (3 @ $500). <br />? <br /> <br />8K Annual Run/Walk. <br /> <br />5 Year Plan <br /> <br />? <br /> <br />Football Lights at Acorn Creek Park. <br />? <br /> <br />Park by Centerville Lake on the small piece of remnant property that that Bald Eagle Water Ski <br /> <br />Club could use for their shows. Potentially a few benches and perhaps a bike rack. <br /> <br />VI. UPDATES <br /> <br />Park Signage <br /> <br />The committee discussed signage for Hidden Spring Park and filled out Project Requirement Form to be <br />submitted to Public Works. They thought the form has great potential for eliminating any communication <br />problems between the committee and staff. Vice-Chairperson Amundsen was going to work on the final <br />draft of the form. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />2 of 3 <br /> <br />
