City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />March 11, 2009 <br />Sgt. Aldridge reported on department events include hiring three new reserve officers, <br />bringing the total to nine. He stated that the Anoka County DUI Task Force is hosting an <br />appreciation dinner for the reserve officers. He mentioned that one CSO was recently <br />deployed to Iraq. <br />VII. OLD BUSINESS <br />1. Parks & Recreation Committee's Opposition to Alternate Location of Drainage <br />Pond at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park <br />City Engineer Statz reported that he attended the last Parks and Recreation Committee <br />meeting, where the location of the storm water pond for the downtown area was <br />discussed. He stated that the recommendation is to locate this pond in the SW corner; <br />however, the Committee did not want to give up this prime area for the storm water pond. <br />He explained that other alternatives would be considered in cooperation with Anoka <br />County Park District. <br />Councilmember Lee explained the concerns with the SW area as the site for the storm <br />water pond included its close proximity to other attractions in the park and some safety <br />concerns. He reported that the Parks and Recreation Committee recommended the SE <br />corner as the site for the storm water pond. <br />VIII. NEW BUSINESS <br />1. Consideration of Public Works Director's Recommendation for 2009 Lawn <br />Maintenance & Upcomin.~ Years <br />City Administrator Larson stated that the lawn maintenance agreement would be for one <br />year with an option to extend it for an additional two years. He reported the cost could <br />vary based on the number of mowings required. He explained that mowing is generally <br />done once per week. <br />Mayor Capra stated that Valley Creek is under new ownership. <br />Motion by Council Member Lee, seconded by Council Member Paar, to approve the <br />Public Works Director's Recommendation to contract with Valley Creek for the <br />2009 Lawn Maintenance for 23 weeks, not to exceed $13,662. All in favor. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />2. Consideration of Request for Raffle Permit by St. Genevieve's Catholic Church <br />for the Third Annual Golden Boys Benefit - Sunda, July 26, 2009 <br />Motion by Council Member Fehrenbacher, seconded by Council Member <br />Broussard Vickers, to approve the Raffle Permit by St. Genevieve's Catholic <br />Church for the Third Annual Golden Boys Benefit on Sunday, July 26, 2009. All in <br />favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Page 3 of 6 <br />
