<br />FREE PRESCRIPTION DRUG DISCOUNT CARD
<br />Consumers can save an average of 22 percent on the cost of prescription
<br />drugs under a program sponsored jointly by the National Association of Coun-
<br />ties (NACo) and Anoka County. The Prescription Discount Card program is
<br />open to anyone regardless of age, health or income. The cards are free and
<br />offer uninsured or underinsured consumers immediate discounts on prescrip-
<br />tiondrugs through a nationwide network of 57,000 participating pharmacies. In
<br />addition, cardholders can save on pet prescriptions at participating retail phar-
<br />macies. To receive your free discount prescription drug card, call Anoka

<br />~~ The Anoka Conservation District is holding their annual tree and
<br />shrub seedling program where 30,000-34,000 new seedlings of over
<br />twenty varieties are sold. Species sold include coniferous trees and
<br />deciduous trees and shrubs that are well adapted to our sandy soils.
<br />One of the main objectives of this program is to encourage landowners to plant
<br />windbreaks and shelterbelts to help reduce soil losses from erosion, to con-
<br />serve energy, and enhance wildlife habitat. In recent years the District has
<br />added the focus of restoring native ecosystems by providing a greater variety of
<br />species native to Anoka County and eliminated any species thought to have

<br />"GET HOOKED ON FISHING, NOT DRUGS!"
<br />Young fishing enthusiasts can learn the secret to landing the big one at the
<br />annual "Get Hooked on Fishing, Not Drugs!" fishing clinic taking place Satur-
<br />day, May 2, at Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park in Coon Rapids. This is a
<br />FREE event open to children ages 5 and up. It is sponsored by the Anoka
<br />County Parks & Recreation Department, Cenaiko Productions, and Fishing
<br />Pro-Mo's. Each year more than 1,000 youngsters attend the fishing clinic to
<br />hear expert anglers offer tips on lure selection, casting, boat and water safety,
<br />fishing ethics, and more. Every participant and chaperone receives a picnic
<br />style lunch and fishing equipment provided by Fishing Pro-Mo's.

<br />Lawn and garden watering may only take place before 10:00 a.m. or after 6:00
<br />p.m. The odd even rule applies for all watering, If your address ends in an
<br />even number, you may water only on even numbered days. If your address
<br />ends in an odd number, you may water only on odd numbered days. If you
<br />have newly installed sod, you are exempt from this lawn & garden
<br />watering requirements for a period of two weeks.
