<br />Page two - City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />August 1J, 1986 <br /> <br />J. Granting the variance request will not confer on the <br />applicant any special privilege as there are already <br />others of this size in the downtown area. <br />4. This variance request will not impair the public <br />health, safety or welfare of the residents of the city. <br /> <br />Civil Defense update by Archie Gay and Dale Larson, Centerville's <br />Civil Defense Directors. Directors Gay and Larson requested <br />a civil defense budget of $4,648.52 be added to the City's <br />budget in 1987. The Council will take this under advisement <br />during their budgeting process. Director's Gay and Larson <br />also requested permission to attend a civil defense seminar <br />this fall at a cost of $184.50 each. This request was denied <br />as it was not a 1986 budget item. The Council offered <br />encouragement to go in 1987. The subject of a new siren versus <br />upgrading the old siren was also discussed. They will continue <br />to pursue grant information on this type of investment. <br /> <br />Motion by Wilharber, second by Robischon to table the appointment <br />of a financial advisor until the August 27 meeting when a <br />full council will be present; aye - Wilharber, Robischon, <br />L'Allier; nay - Fritchie, motion carried. <br /> <br />Update by councilmember Fritchie on the Senior Transit Committee <br />meeting. The test program will be extended until June 1987. <br />At that time the programs figures and costs will be re-evaluated. <br />The City will try to publicize this program to make eligable <br />residents aware of it. A senior resident is needed to serve <br />as a member of this committee.Clerk will send Edith Huck a thank <br />you letter for her service as our past senior representative. <br /> <br />Motion by Wilharber, second by Fritchie to use the additional <br />Community Development Block Grant money in the amount of <br />$1,979.00in the housing rehabilitation program, motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Motion by Wilharber, second by Fritchie to join in the joint <br />agreement for the 1987 - 1989 Community Development Block Grant <br />Program, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Orv will get bids on bobcat work needed at the drainage easement <br />on Shad Avenue. <br /> <br />No comment to the County on the hazardous waste generators <br />license application as it didn't seem out of the ordinary and <br />Waldoch's Collision Center is in Lino Lakes. <br /> <br />Motion by Robischon, second by Wilharber to appoint Norm <br />Fritchie as one of Centerville's Fire Commission Representatives, <br />motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Motion by Wilharber, second by Fritchie to table Maureen <br />Aslesen's resignation letter as she is reconsidering, motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />
