City of Centeillii!e Goals Adopted II!;Jay 23, 2001 ~NTROIDILlCTuON This document is intended as a road map and statement of the priority work that shouid be considered by the City of Centerville ror the neJd two years and longer term in . regards to capital improvements. Ultimately, Council will decide what can be accomplished. This document is based on input from council members, committees, staff, and citizens. It identifies responsible persons and paliies. It defines timelines to ensure that the proper consideration and research are completed to avoid delay in implementation. An example would be construction. The plans must be finished Witll enough lead-time to expedite the actual construction in good weather. The plan also highlights action taken and on the horizon where applicable. This is a similar process to Council's 1996 Accomplishments and 1997 Goals document. It does not preclude that new Goals may be identified or that this document binds future Council's. It is a priority list based on the information and input gathered to date. Every Council has had a process to set Goals and Priorities. This process may be a bit different from previous Councils, but the process agreed to in December 2000 by the initial participants was to brainstorm ideas, give ever] person a chance to highlight their priorities, assemble the comments and rank if possible and produce a draft document. This is the fourth draftbased on this agreed to process. Council's have always relied on the advice and counsel of the advisory committees. This Council sought out the opinions of the committees. Both the Council and committees need to communicate what are the important priorities, opportunities, and trends that lead to sound policy decisions. In drafting this document, CounCil is very aware that the committees are lioluntary and cannot devote endless hours to a task. That is why lhe document tries to focus no more than three tasks on any committee (some less). :7i
