<br />Gitv of Genterifille Goals <br />J <br />Adopt,ed May 23, 2001 <br /> <br />Public Safety <br /> <br />Police and Fire services were not mentioned in the original document and most people <br />take it for granted because of the exceptional service. The dedication of our firefighters <br />and police officers is without question - superb. <br /> <br />Centerville has a full contingent of dedicated, trained tirefighters with modern equipment <br />to provide prevention, protection, and medical assistance. By combining with Lino <br />Lakes and Circle Pines in the Centennial Fire Department, citizens receive quality, cost <br />efficient fire services. <br /> <br />The Centennial Lakes Police Department combines the Gities of Centerville, Circle <br />Pines and Lexington into a 16-member force. The Department is dedicated to <br />community policing, prevenlion and safely through education, citizen involvement in <br />neighborhood ',vatch programs, and thorough investigation, apprehension, and . <br />prosecution of criminals. <br /> <br />Public safety will always be the first priority for any community. Centerville, in <br />cooperation with our partner cilies must continue to invest in our firefighters and officers <br />to maintain training proficiency, adopt new technologies, and quickly respond to <br />emergencies. <br /> <br />Accomplished to Date: <br />* The need for a reliable tornado siren was identified in the goals process and will <br />be purchased and installed by summer 2001. <br />· The County has performed a safety study concerning the stop sign at Centerville <br />Road and Main Street Council is waiting for recommendations. <br />@ Although not identified in the goal process, an emergency snow removal policy <br />was adopted by Council in 2001. <br />~ Council members discussed 135E Highway '14 traffic safety with Senator l<Crentz. <br /> <br />Girl the Horizon: <br />* A new radio system lor countywide dispatching is needed now <br />~ Additional police officers as the community conl.inues to grow <br />" Evaluate current police sePJices and equipment <br />
