ChemLawn Service Agreement <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg asked ifit would be more appropriate for this contract to go out to bid. <br />He then commented that he would like the City to research whether ChemLawn is using <br />fertilizer containing phosphorous in the City. <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes noted the contract amount is the same as last year for weed control for <br />the parks and the City needs to control weeds to respect adjoining property owners. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers suggested asking ChemLawn what chemicals are <br />used. <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated that the League of Minnesota Cities is attempting to push <br />through legislation making it illegal to use phosphorous fertilizers in the state of <br />Minnesota. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Nelson. seconded by Council Member Capra to <br />approve the ChemLawn Service Agreement and directing Staff to advise <br />ChemLawn that phosphorous fertilizer is not to be used. Aves - 4. Nays - O. <br />Abstain - 1 (Mavor Swedberg). <br /> <br />3. Anoka Countv Residential Recvcling Agreement <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated that this item was an annual housekeeping item to allow the <br />City to participate in the County's recycling grant program. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson noted the recycling funds were used to provide the newsletter in <br />the past. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Nelson. seconded by Council Member Travis to <br />A{lprove the Anoka County Residential Recycling Agreement. All in favor. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />4. Lift Station #1 Upgrade <br /> <br />City Engineer Peterson indicated that Lift Station #1 is located near The Shores <br />development and is in need of upgrading before adding additional homes to the system. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers asked if the money for the upgrade would come <br />from the sewer fund. City Engineer Peterson indicated that sewer funds would be used. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Broussard Vickers. seconded by Council Member <br />Nelson. to authorize the upgrade of Lift Station #1 and to order plans and <br />specifications.
