<br />Mayor Swedberg asked whether the more expensive pump would have a longer life <br />expectancy. Mr. Peterson said not necessarily, there are just two types of pumps and one <br />costs more. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra asked whicb type of pump tbe City currently uses. Mr. Palzer <br />indicated the City uses a submersible pump not a grinder. He tben explained tbat the <br />starting and stopping of tbe pump is what diminishes the life of the pump. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra asked how long the current pump has been in place. Mr. Palzer <br />indicated the current pump has been in place since 1970. <br /> <br />Council Member Travis asked whether it would be a good idea to wait until The Shores <br />comes on line to avoid getting dirt in the lines. Mr. Palzer indicated that not much dirt <br />gets into the lines. Mr. Peterson indicated that adding The Shores sbould not be an issue. <br /> <br />Motion bv Council Member Broussard Vickers. seconded bv Mayor Swedberl,! to <br />approve the replacinl! of existinl! pumps with submersible grinder pumps and <br />controls as presented bv the Citv Enl!ineer to be funded with funds from the sewer <br />fund. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg asked that a friendly amendment be made to specify that the <br />improvement will be funded out of the sewer fund. <br /> <br />City Attorney Hoeft indicated that there would be a Resolution authorizing this matter at <br />the next meeting as a housekeeping matter. <br /> <br />3. Work Plan Water Infrastructure <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated she had reviewed the water interconnect agreement and <br />determined that the contract expires in 2007. She then noted that the document gives <br />either party the option to terminate the agreement upon three years written notice if either <br />party feels that water expansion would have an adverse impact. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers commented that Lino Lakes would have no problem <br />extending the contract to 2007 but the document is valid until 2007. <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated she had received a telephone call from call Lino Lakes <br />indicating they would be happy to extend the contract to 2007 but the contract already <br />allows for 2007. <br /> <br />Mr. Palzer indicated it takes two to three years to construct a water tower. He then <br />commented that the highest use day last summer the City used 800,000 gallons which <br />would mean emptying the tower 8 times in one day.
