I have taken action on the
ollowing:

1. In the matter of Police Chief Pecchia 's concern about the no-wake
line moving the high speed boats closer to the docks and swimming areas
on the east side of the lake. I checked with our Boat and Water Safety
people who gave me information on the right of the lakeshore owners to
mark off a 2500 square foot swimming area with buoys etc. to warn boats
away from people swimming. I have sent this information to Chief
Pecchia and also talked to him on the phone about this option. He
seemed to be satisfied.

2. In the matter of See 4 of the ordinance dealing with Enforcement as
raised by Mayor Swedberg. The wording in the ordinance MUST be "The
Primary responsibility for enforcement of this ordinance shall rest with
the Anoka County Sheriff's Department (and/or the ( each City
adds their name here in their own version of the ordinance ) Police
Department). This, however, shall not preclude enforcement by other
licensed peace officers."

It doesn't mean that the Cities need to buy a boat and go out on the
lake - that job rests with the County Sheriff. However, because each
city has a police department and because it will be an ordinance adopted
by each City, there should be provision for their officers to also act
in response to this situation. The wording as presented also allows for
Conservation Officers to enforce the ordinance.

I talked to Mayor Swedberg about this yesterday and he seemed
comfortable with this.

In the matter of a deadline or sunset provision for the ordinance as
proposed in Lino Lakes. This gets a bit more complicated. First of
all, it really isn't needed as a ordinance can always be repealed if the

1
