<br />City of Centerville Oni #24 <br />Effective: 10/27/99 <br /> <br />Subd. 8 Kennel- Commercial. Any structure or premises on which five (5) or <br />more domestic animals over six (6) months of age are kept, owned, boarded, groomed, sheltered, <br />protected, bred, or offered for sale or any other merchandising. Every commercial kennel shall be <br />enclosed or fenced in such a manner as to prevent the running at large or escape of the domestic <br />animal( s) confined therein. <br /> <br />Subd. 9 Owner. Any person, firm, corporation, organization, or department, possessing, <br />feeding, harboring, keeping, having an interest in, or having temporary or permanent custody or <br />control of the animal. <br /> <br />Snbd. 10 Animal Control Officer. A person employed by or under contract with the City or a <br />licensed peace officer who is responsible for animal control eoforcement. <br /> <br />24.02 Restrictions. <br /> <br />Subd. 1 Running at Large Prohibited. It shall be unlawful for the domestic animal of any <br />person who owns, harbors, or keeps a domestic animal to run at large. Dogs or cats must be on a <br />leash accompanied by an individual capable of controlling the animal as needed. Subject to the <br />above restrictions, dogs and cats shall be permitted in streets or on public land unless the City has <br />posted an area with signs !Wiling "Dogs or Cats Prolnbited." <br /> <br />Subd. 2 License Required. <br /> <br />(I) All dogs, cats and ferrets over the age of six months kept, harbored, or <br />maintained by their owners in the City, shall be licensed and registered with the <br />City. Licenses shall be issued by City Staff upon payment of the license fee. The <br />license fee will be established by Council resolution or separate Ordinance. Such <br />license shall be renewed every two years for the life of the animal provided that the <br />owner shows proof every two years that the animal has shots within that period <br />and provided the address of the owner remains the same. The owner shall state, at <br />the time application is made for the license and upon furms provided for such <br />purpose, his or her name and address and the name, breed, color, and sex of each <br />animal owned or kept by him or her. No license shaII be granted for an animal <br />which has not been vaccinated against distemper and rabies, as provided in this <br />Ordinance. Vaccination shall be performed only by a doctor qualified to practice <br />veterinary medicine in the state in which animal is vaccinated. A veterinarian who <br />vaccinates an animal to be licensed in the City shalI complete a certificate of <br />vaccination. One copy shall be issued to the animal owner for affixing to the <br />license application. <br /> <br />Page 3 of 16 <br />
