City of Centerville <br />January 14, 2004 <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br /> <br />Council Member Paar indicated that the EDC has finalized the business directories for <br />2004 and rolled the new resident packet into it. <br /> <br />Council Member Paar told Council that the festival is looking for volunteers to assist with <br />the events. He then asked whether the Lions would be handling concessions. <br /> <br />Mayor Sweeney indicated that no one has volunteered for the event but the Lions will <br />discuss it and they plan to have a trailer for the ice racing. <br /> <br />Council Member Paar asked whether a blanket permit for the festival to cover all the <br />events could be issued and whether the City could waive the cost. <br /> <br />Council Member Paar asked for funds for the events not to exceed $1,500 on behalf of <br />the EDC to cover the printing costs and cost of prizes. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Capra, seconded by Council Member Lee to approve <br />not to exceed $1,500 for the festival. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Council Member Lee indicated that skate night was very well attended and enjoyed by <br />all. <br /> <br />Mayor Sweeney indicated the next skate night is January 23, 2004. <br /> <br />Mayor Sweeney indicated that Centerville has gone from number 3 in terms of taxes <br />down to 22. He then read from an article in the St. Paul Pioneer Press that provided <br />information on local taxes. <br /> <br />Mayor Sweeney reported that the first police steering committee governing board <br />meeting was held and there will be another one on January 24, 2004 from 8:00 a.m. to <br />3:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra indicated there is a nice article in the Quad Press about St. <br />th <br />Genevieve’s 150 Anniversary celebration. <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes asked whether any Council Members wanted to sit on the oral board <br />for police interviews. <br /> <br />Council Members Lee and Capra and Mayor Sweeney indicated they would be available. <br /> <br />XI ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Lee, seconded by Council Member Broussard Vickers <br />to adjourn the January 14, 2004 City Council Meeting at 9:05 p.m. All in favor. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Page 9 of 10 <br /> <br />
