Center Street Residents’ Petition for Stop Signs

Ms. Jane Olson of 1801 Center Street addressed Council and read a letter concerning the
traffic and speed on Center Street. She then explained that there has been a dramatic
increase in speeds since the road reconstruction and they anticipate that it will increase
more when the final asphalt layer is added. The residents provided Council with a
petition for stop signs.

Council Member Capra asked if there is a stop sign on Pheasant Lane.

Tedd Peterson of 6933 Pheasant Lane indicated there is a stop sign on Pheasant Lane and
said that speeds are well in excess of 30 mph.

Mayor Sweeney indicated he would like the police department to set up in that location to
verify speeds with the trailer.

Council Member Capra agreed and said that Council usually seeks a recommendation
from the police department as to whether a stop sign would be appropriate in the
requested location.
