City of Centerville <br />December 20, 2004 <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br /> <br />Council discussed the matter and determined that the City Employees would be covered <br />by the City’s insurance policies in the event of an accident. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Lee, seconded by Council Member Paar to approve <br />Consent Agenda Item 11 as presented. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />V. AWARDS/PRESENTATIONS/APPEARANCES <br /> <br />1. Chief Bob Makela – Presentation to Exiting Mayor Sweeney <br /> <br />Chief Makela acknowledged the public service efforts of outgoing Mayor Sweeney and <br />thanked him as well as the City for the support of the police department. He then <br />presented Mayor Sweeney with a clock on behalf of the governing board and police <br />department to acknowledge his service. He also provided the Mayor with patches from <br />the old department and the new department. <br /> <br />2. Council Member Broussard Vickers – Presentation of Gavel to Exiting Mayor <br />Sweeney <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers presented exiting Mayor Sweeney with a gavel in <br />recognition for his service to the City. <br /> <br /> Mayor Sweeney thanked Council and the City for the acknowledgement. <br /> <br />VI. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> <br /> 1. Truth-in-Taxation Hearing <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Broussard Vickers, seconded by Council Member <br />Capra to close the public hearing. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />VII. NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. Resolution #05-001 – Appointments for 2005 <br /> <br />Council reviewed the appointments for 2005 and appointed Lee as Acting Mayor, Capra <br />and Lee to the Fire District Steering Committee, Lakso to the North Metro Cable with <br />Paar as the alternate, Capra and Lee to the Police Governing Board, the City <br />Administrator to the Tri City Meeting, Paar to EDC, Lakso to Park and Recreation, <br />Broussard Vickers to Planning and Zoning, Acting Chief Makela as Emergency Services <br />Director, and Capra to the Solid Waste Advisory Committee. <br /> <br />Page 3 of 9 <br /> <br />
