City of Centerville
Council Meeting Minutes
April 10, 2002

needed to be addressed and Mr. Palzer is working with the Barons on those and is to
inform him if there is a need to issue a citation for noncompliance.

City Attorney Hoeft reported that the Moreland citation went to court in late summer or
early fall and the party did not show up so a formal complaint was issued and a new court
date issued. He then said he is not sure what the outcome of that court date was and his
staff is researching whether there is a warrant issued for this person.

Council Member Nelson asked how the Hasiak property was progressing.

Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated that Mr. Palzer and Mr. Cook had informed her this
afternoon that all the inspections have been completed at the Hasiak property and the
certificate of occupancy issued.

6. Volunteer Recognition Picnic

Council Member Capra asked for feedback on the draft invitation provided to Council.
She then asked whether Council wanted to invite only those residents on the list or open
it up to the public to recognize those that have volunteered and promote volunteering for
those that have not. She then said she had checked into the price of a helium tank to fill
balloons for the kids and had prices for hotdogs, buns, lemonade, chips and paper
products.
5~
Council Member Capra said that the E=Seis looking for volunteers to assist with the
recognition picnic.

Council Member Broussard Vickers indicated that the Park and Recreation Committee is
looking for adult volunteer help during the open hours at the skate park because the City
does not have funds available to staff the skate park full time. She then explained that, if
the problems continue, the skate park would be permanently closed and the equipment
sold.

Mayor Swedberg said he would like to acknowledge those residents that have
volunteered in the newspaper.

Council Member Broussard Vickers suggested there are those volunteers who may not
want their names listed in the newspaper and then suggested that an article in the paper
thanking volunteers would be more appropriate.

Council Member Capra indicated she is having a hard time obtaining names for the
invitations and would be afraid that, if names were listed in the paper, someone would be
left off the list and have their feelings hurt.

Council Member Capra said she would like to have an ad in the newspaper during
National Volunteer Week to thank residents for volunteering. She then asked if Council
was interested in opening up the picnic to all residents to promote volunteering.
