The majority <br />of the 126 cases were referrals from law enforcement, schools and yellow <br />pages. 46% of these cases were mediared or conciliated with an agreement <br />rate of 83%. Another 911 inquiries were given information and referred to <br />other more appropriate resoutces and 94 asked for information. The most <br />common issues were neighborhood. property line or behavior; <br />landlord/ tenant - noise or maintenance; family - communication, rules and <br />chores. Staff assisted 1)20 to address and resolve conflict. <br />. A municipality held monthly /a,!!, group mediations to solve a departmental <br />dispute. Administration and itaff working separately and together with two mediators on <br />many tangential Issues to solve the prohlem averted the potential of a costly court contest. <br />Although the dispute hadyeatT of history, all participants nported that communication and <br />learning to problem-solve together has produced a healthier working ,,/ationship for aIL <br />"We learned to talk things out Instead of "'nning away or having a big confrontation. We <br />kno", ",e.-an callMSAC andgo back to mediation if things get difficult.. .we "'''' so <br />pleased ",zth the mediatotT' skill and empatry." <br /> <br />Family Visitation Program - Strengthening Families The majority of <br />. these 91 cases came from Anoka County Child Support workers, Anoka <br />County Court Services, or were prior clients. 67~/o were mediated or <br />conciliated with an 850/0 agreement rate. The most commonly mediated issues <br />were communication, respect, scheduling and transportation. Staff responded <br />to another 869 inquiries and 258 requests for information. Overall, staff <br />assisted 1,312 people to work realistically to co-parent. <br />. A divorced couple mediated twice. This couple had bem in court numeroas times <br />since the divorce. Their new partners attended both mediations to plan a parenting <br />ag",ment for the four child"n. Although the first mediation was contentioas and emotional, <br />the second resulted in mo" focus on the pa"ntlngplan. One of the clients said, "1 am <br />extremely happy with both mediators and the process. ..It was the best communication we've <br />had in the Ihm years since the divorce.. .and zts dJict on the kids has been podtlve. <br /> <br />Victim Offender Program - Changing Lives All 77 cases came from <br />Anoka County Community Corrections and Probation. 47 mediations and <br />pre-mediations were conducted. Of these cases, 90% resulted in an <br />agreement. Offenses included assault, damage to property and disorderly <br />conduct.
