<br />3.04 SURFACE PREPARATIONS <br /> <br />A. All street surfaces carefully cleaned, scraped; swept and approved by the <br />ENGINEER prior to Seal Coating. <br /> <br />B. Application of water may be required to minimize the creation of air borne dust <br />and assist in the sweeping and cleaning operation. <br /> <br />C. Hand cleanup used as necessary. <br /> <br />D. Cover all Manhole and Gate Valve Box Covers with fine/sand aggregate prior to <br />seal coating so that seal coat material does not adhere to the cover surface: <br /> <br />1. Clean all fine aggregate and seal coat material from Manhole and Gate <br />Valve Box Covers once work is completed. <br /> <br />2. Dispose of all fine aggregate and seal coat material at an acceptable <br />location outside the City limits. <br /> <br />3.05 BITUMINOUS MATERIAL APPLICATION <br /> <br />A. Conform to MnDOT Spec. 2356.D except as modified herein: <br /> <br />I. Application rates shall be modified only as directed by the ENGINEER or . <br />an authorized representative. <br /> <br />2. Application rates will be determined based on existing surface conditions, <br />and traffic volumes. <br /> <br />3.06 AGGREGATE APPLICATION <br /> <br />A. Conform to MnDOT Spec. 2356.E except as modified herein: <br /> <br />I. The CONTRACTOR is responsible to perform the test strip and <br />calibration of the chip spreader in accordance to the "Standard Method for <br />Determining the Transverse Spread Rate for Surface Treatment <br />Application" (Modified Method ASTM D-5624-95): <br /> <br />a. Complete this procedure on the first day of seal coat application <br />and one additional time during construction as requested by the <br />ENGINEER. <br /> <br />b.
