<br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />V HOLIDAYS AND LEAVES. <br /> <br />A. Eligibility. All regular employees may take certain <br />holidays and leaves, as set forth below. Employees <br />suspended without pay for more than one pay period, or <br />on unpaid leave of absence, shall not accrue or be <br />allowed to use any accrued leave. Except as otherwise <br />provided below, part-time employees who do not <br />regularly work 30 or more hours per week and temporary <br />employees do not accrue and will not be paid for <br />holidays and leaves. Part-time employees who regularly <br />work 30 hours or more per week shall receive holiday <br />pay on a pro rata basis, based on their hours regularly <br />worked per week divided by 40. <br /> <br />B. Holidays. Regular employees who regularly work 30 or <br />more hours per week are entitled to time off with pay <br />on holidays. City offices shall be closed for business <br />on each such holiday, but employees may be required by <br />their department heads to work on holidays when the <br />nature of their duties or other conditions require. An <br />employee required to work on a holiday shall be paid or <br />receive compensatory time at the rate of one and one- <br />half times the employee's base pay, plus the employee's <br />regular rate of pay for the holiday. When a holiday <br />falls on a saturday, the preceding Friday is a holiday. <br />When a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday <br />is a holiday. If a holiday occurs during an employee's <br />scheduled vacation, it shall not be counted as part of <br />said vacation. The following days are paid holidays: <br /> <br />HOLIDAY CELEBRATED <br /> <br />New Year's Day <br />Martin Luther King1s Birthday <br />Washington's and Lincoln'S Birthday <br />Memorial Day <br />Independence Day <br />Labor Day <br />Veterans Day <br />Thanksgiving Day <br />Friday after Thanksgiving <br />Christmas Day <br />Floating Holiday <br /> <br />DATE <br /> <br />January 1 <br />Third Monday in January <br />Third Monday in Feb. <br />Last Monday in May <br />July 4 <br />First Monday in Sept. <br />November 11th <br />Fourth Thursday in Nov. <br />that Friday <br />December 25th <br />date selected by each <br />employee <br /> <br />Floating Holiday may be taken at the request of <br />employee, with prior approval of the employee's <br />supervisor and the holiday must be taken by the close <br />of each payroll year.
