Vacation leave maybe used as earned, subject to the approval of the department head <br />and the City Administrator. Vacation for non-police personnel is accrued as follows: <br /> <br />Years of Service <br />at least: 0 - 4 <br />5-9 <br />10 - 14 <br />15 - 19 <br />20+ <br /> <br />Vacation Hours Earned Annually <br />80 <br />96 <br />120 <br />144 <br />168 <br /> <br />B. Regular and probationary employees who work on a year-round basis an average of <br />thirty (30) hours per week or more, are eligible to earn vacation benefits. Employees who <br />work from thirty (30) to thirty-nine (39) hours per week will receive a pro-rated share <br />based on hours worked. <br /> <br />D. Normally requests for vacation should be received at least forty-eight (48) hours in <br />advance of the requested time off. This notice may be waived at the discretion of the <br />department head and the City Administrator. Vacation can be requested in increments as <br />small as one hour up to the total amount of the accrued leave balance. Vacation leave is <br />to be used only by the employee who accumulated it. It cannot be given away or traded. <br /> <br />E. Employees may accrue vacation leave up to a maximum of one-and-a-half (1-1/2) <br />times their annual accrual rate. No vacation will be allowed to accrue in excess of this <br />amount without the recommendation of the City Administrator and approval by the City <br />Council. Vacation cannot be converted into cash payments except at termination. <br />
