Vacation leave maybe used as earned, subject to the approval of the department head and the City Administrator. Vacation for police department personnel is accrued as follows: Years of Service at least 0 - 4 5-9 10 - 14 15 - 19 20+ Vacation Hours Earned Annually 112 128 168 192 224 C. Regular and probationary employees who work on a year-round basis an average of thirty (30) hours per week or more, are eligible to earn vacation benefits. Employees who work from thirty (30) to thirty-nine (39) hours per week will receive a pro-rated share based on hours worked. D. Normally requests for vacation should be received at least forty-eight (48) hours in advance of the requested time off. This notice may be waived at the discretion of the department head and the City Administrator. Vacation can be requested in increments as small as one hour up to the total amount of the accrued leave balance. Vacation leave is to be used only by the employee who accumulated it. It cannot be given away or traded. E. Employees may accrue vacation leave up to a maximum of one-and-a-half (1-1/2) times their annual accrual rate. No vacation will be allowed to accrue in excess of this amount without the recommendation of the City Administrator and approval by the City Council. Vacation cannot be converted into cash payments except at termination.
