<br />6.3 Termination <br /> <br />Employees leaving City employment shall be compensated at their current regular rate of <br />pay for all hours of vacation accrued and unused as of the date of separation. <br /> <br />6.4 Sick Leave <br /> <br />A. Sick leave is accrued at the rate of eight hours per month, up to 800 hours. Sick leave <br />shall be granted only for absences due to illness, disability, exposure to contagious <br />disease (where such exposure would endanger the health of others the employee comes <br />into contact with), or the necessity of medical, dental or chiropractic care of the <br />employee, the employee's spouse or children. Regular and probationary employees who <br />work on a year-round basis at thirty (30) hours per week or more, are eligible to earn sick <br />leave benefits at the above listed rate. Employees who work thirty (30) to thirty-nine (39) <br />will receive a pro-rated share based on hours worked. <br /> <br />B. To be eligible for sick leave with pay, an employee shall: <br /> <br />I. Report as soon as possible to his/her department head and/or the City <br />Administrator the reason for their absence; <br />2. Keep his or her department head informed of their condition if the absence <br />is of more than three (3) days in duration; <br />3. Submit a medical certificate for any absence, if required by the City <br />Administrator. <br /> <br />C. Sick leave may be used only by the employee who accrued it. It may not be given <br />away or traded. <br /> <br />D. Sick leave may be accumulated up to 800 hours and may be granted in increments <br />from one (I) hour up to the total number of hours accumulated. <br /> <br />E. Once a non-union employee accrues 800 hours of sick leave and does not use any sick <br />leave in the next six (6) months helshe shall receive eight hours to be used in the same <br />manner as vacation. (Revised February I, 2000, effective retroactively to January I, 2000 <br />for calculation purposes). <br /> <br />F. Using or claiming sick leave for a purpose not authorized in this section shall be cause <br />for disciplinary action. <br /> <br />6.5 Holidays <br />
