<br />A. In accordance with Federal Law, the City of Blue Earth has adopted the following <br />policy on drugs in the workplace: <br /> <br />B. Employees are expected and required to report to work on time and in appropriate <br />mental and physical condition. It is our intent and obligation to provide a drug-free, safe <br />and secure work environment. <br /> <br />C. The unlawful manufacture, distribution, possession, or use of a controlled substance <br />on City property or while conducting City business is absolutely prohibited. Violations of <br />this policy will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination, and may <br />have legal consequences. <br /> <br />D. The City recognizes drug dependency as an illness and a major health problem. The <br />City also recognizes drug abuse as a potential health, safety, and security problem. <br />Employees needing help in dealing with such problems are encouraged to use their health <br />insurance plans, as appropriate. <br /> <br />E. Employees must, as a condition of employment, abide by the terms of the above <br />policy and must report any conviction under a criminal drug statute for violations <br />occurring on or off work premises while conducting City business. A report of the <br />conviction must he made within five (5) days after the conviction as required by the <br />Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988. <br /> <br />Article 14 <br /> <br />Work Rules/Code of Conduct <br /> <br />A. In order to provide direction to all municipal employees, to ensure an efficient and <br />effective work environment, and to avoid possible misunderstandings, the City has <br />established a uniform and equitable policy which establishes work rules. This section <br />describes these rules. The City Administrator may issues administrative directives to <br />expand, clarifY, or amend these rules at their discretion. <br /> <br />B. Conduct as a City Employee: In accepting City employment, you have become a <br />representative of the City and are responsible for assisting and serving the citizens for <br />whom you work. An employee's primary responsibility is to serve the residents of Blue <br />Earth. <br /> <br />C. Employees are expected to: <br />1. be courteous at all times and display a cheerful, polite attitude. <br />2. be neat, keep their workplace as neat as possible, and dress appropriately <br />for their respective jobs. <br />3. be dependable and accountable. <br /> <br />D. Overall, employees should exhibit conduct that is ethical, responsive, and of high <br />standards becoming of a City employee. <br />
