The City Councils will also be asked to concur on the <br />final alignment selection at the conclusion ofthe EA process and to approve the roadway plans <br />when completed. The Washington County Board of Commissioners will make the final decision <br />on the location. <br /> <br />COMMENT: Brush at the /-35E interchange restricts sight lines. <br /> <br />RESPONSE: The Minnesota Department of Transportation has been asked to review the <br />intersection. <br /> <br />COMMENT: Can the road be connected to TH 6/ north of 147'h Street by the post office? <br /> <br />RESPONSE: A major intersection will exist at TH 61/147'h Street/Oneka Lake Boulevard even <br />if the county road is on a different alignment, because of projected traffic volumes on Oneka <br />Lake Boulevard. Another major intersection with TH 61, close to 147th Street, would not be <br />desirable from a traffic operations standpoint. <br /> <br />COMMENT: Can 14dh Street be connected to the freeway frontage road? <br /> <br />RESPONSE: Extending l40th Street west to the freeway frontage road is in the City of Hugo's <br />transportation plan but, due to environmental issues, may not be constructed. <br /> <br />COMMENT: What is the process for property acquisition? <br /> <br />RESPONSE: All property owners affected by the project will be contacted by Washington <br />County's Acquisition Specialist after the preferred alignment alternative has been selected. An <br />informational brochure titled "Acquisition Information for Property Owners" is available from <br />Washington County. <br /> <br />COMMENT: Meetings with individual neighborhoods should be held to get their concerns. <br /> <br />RESPONSE: All property owners within and surrounding the study area will continue to be <br />invited to the public meetings. These public meetings allow all of the potentially affected <br />individuals to obtain information and provide input on the project. <br /> <br />COMMENT: Wetlands don't seem to be an issue with developments; why should they be an <br />issue with this project? <br /> <br />RESPONSE: Impacting wetlands is an issue with development. According to the Wetland <br />Conservation Act (WCA), when a wetland is proposed to be impacted, an attempt must be made <br />to avoid the impact.
