<br />pay, or sick leave if available and requested in advance, will be granted as <br />may reasonably be required under individual circumstances, subject to the <br />approval of the department head. <br /> <br />Immediate family (for purposes of this Section) is defined as an <br />employee's parent, step-parent, spouse, child, step-child, brother, sister, <br />step-brother, step-sister, grandparent, grandchild, spouse's parents, <br />brother-in-law, sister-in-law or member of the immediate household. <br /> <br />The actual amount of time off, and funeral leave approved will be <br />determined by the department head depending on individual <br />circumstances, (such as the closeness of the relative, arrangements to be <br />made, distance to the funeral,'etc.). In these situations, employees will <br />receive their regular pay except that employees will not be paid for <br />regularly scheduled days off. <br /> <br />11.4 Parental Leave <br /> <br />An employee who works twenty (20) or more hours a week and has been <br />employed more than one year is entitled to take an unpaid leave of <br />absence in connection with the birth or adoption of a child. Parental leave <br />may not exceed six (6) weeks after the birth or adoption of the child. <br /> <br />Employees are not required to use sick leave during parental leave but <br />may use sick leave at their option for any period of this leave they are <br />unable to work due to medical reasons. <br /> <br />The employee is entitled to return to work in the same position and at the <br />same rate of pay the employee was receiving prior to commencement of <br />the leave. Group insurance coverage will remain in effect during the <br />leave. <br /> <br />12 INSURANCE PLANS <br /> <br />12.1 Worker's Compensation <br /> <br />Employees, as defined by the Minnesota Worker's Compensation Act, are <br />covered by Worker's Compensation Insurance. <br /> <br />a) Any employee injured on the job and covered by Worker's <br />Compensation Insurance will be paid for the remainder of the day in <br />which the injury occurs. <br /> <br />21 <br />
