<br />business is absolutely prohibited. Violations of this policy will result <br />in disciplinary action, up to and including termination, and may have <br />legal consequences. <br /> <br />C. The City recognizes drug dependency as an illness and a major <br />health problem. The City also recognizes drug abuse as a potential <br />health, safety and security problem. Employees needing help in <br />dealing with such problems are encouraged to use their health <br />insurance plans, as appropriate. <br /> <br />D. Employees must, as a condition of employment, abide by the terms <br />of the City's drug and alcohol policy and must report any conviction <br />under a criminal drug statue for violations occurring on or off the <br />work premises while conducting City business. A report of the <br />conviction must be made within five (5) days after the conviction as <br />required by the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988. <br /> <br />21 RESIGNATION <br /> <br />Any employee wishing to leave municipal service in good standing must submit a <br />written resignation to his or her supervisor at least fourteen (14) calendar days' <br />before an employee's anticipated leaving. The resignation must state the <br />effective date of the resignation and the reason for leaving. <br /> <br />The City Administrator may waive the notice requirement if it is determined to be <br />in the best interest of the City. <br /> <br />22 AFFIRMATIVE ACTION POLICY AND PLAN <br /> <br />22.1 Policy <br /> <br />The City of Centerville will not discriminate against any employee or applicant for <br />employment because of race, color, creed, religion, ancestry, national origin, <br />gender, disability, age, marital status or status with regard to public assistance. <br /> <br />The City of Centerville will take affirmative action to ensure that all employment <br />practices are free of such discrimination. Such employment practices include, <br />but are not limited to hiring, including all phases of the selection process, <br />upgrading, demotion, transfer, recruitment or recruitment advertising, layoff, <br />disciplinary action, termination or other forms of compensation and selection for <br />training. <br /> <br />The City prohibits the harassment of any employee or job applicant on the basis <br />of their protected class status.
