Corporal Mike Jensen
Centennial Lakes Police Depariment
200 Civic Heights Circle
Circle Pines, MN 55014
(763) 784-2501

Chief Heckman, monthly activity report for November, 12-06-2002

This report addresses areas I oversee within the department on a day-to-day basis.

1) Vehicle Maintenance, all squads had general maintenance. It's that time of year to
order a squad. Chevrolet was low bid for the 2003 squad. Chief Heckman is awaiting
a call from the leasing company with current pricing and then we can order the new
squad. We had a problem with Tires Plus on snow tires for the squads. At present we
are awaiting snow tires from Arden Hills Goodyear.

2) Reserve unit. All is running normal, our thanks to all reserves for their hard work.
The reserves put hours in during November by riding with officers, on patrol Fridays and
Saturday evenings. When they are out on patrol they check businesses and do residential
patrol. In November, the reserves put in 83 hours. During November we had another
reserve meeting in which we continued review type training for squad use and radio use
by the reserves. The reserves have also read the department manual. I thank them for all
the fine work that they have done for the communities. On December 11 th we will
interview a new candidate for the reserve unit. My thanks to the reserve unit for all the
hard work they do for the Cities. ,

3) Safety committee, I'm working on procedure for officers to follow for the cleaning up
biohazard spills. I have finished a draft and now Investigator Blanck will review said
draft.

4) Emergency/First Aid Equipment, I had to order replacement stock for the first aid .
equipment and this should bring us in to the New Year. . .

5) (Safe md sober is once again having seat belt enforcement in November 2002. The
time frame will be November 21 st to December the 1st. During this time officers will give
special enforcement to the drivers not using a seat belt. One of the prizes this year for
most citations issued by a department is moving radar. I'm hoping that the officers of the
Centennial Lakes Police Department once again meet this challenge). I left the above
information in this report to refresh everyone. Officers of the CentelIDial Lakes Police
Department again did a great job during the above challenge. Officers issued 134
citations during this time frame. Six officers worked overtime shifts to assist in this
challenge. We have submitted the report to the State and should hear the outcome very

3/'
