<br />City of Centerville <br />November 27, 2002 <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br /> <br />Motion bv Mavor Swedber\!. seconded bv Conncil Member Nelson to direct Staff to <br />look into similar facilities in tbe metro area., requirements for such a facility. the <br />type of zonin!! other communities require. and provide a report to Council at the <br />first meetin!! in January. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra asked if the City could deny the use if it is not allowed by City <br />Ordinance, City Attorney Hoeft indicated the general rule is the City cannot preclude <br />this use from the community but can place it in the zoning district that is most <br />appropriate, <br /> <br />Mr. Vang indicated he was aware of two other slaughter houses in the metro area and <br />would provide that information to Staff <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg asked Mr, Vang to work with City Staff to gather information, <br /> <br />VOTE; All in favor. Motion carried unanimouslv. <br /> <br />3, Mr. Milo Bennett - Approval ofthe Purchase ofSCBA's <br /> <br />Fire Chief Bennett addressed Council and indicated he has been before the other two <br />cities seeking approval of these items as there was not a quorum at the last Fire District <br />meeting. He then provided information on the SCBA's that the Department is interested <br />in purchasing and explained that Anoka County passed legislation to allow for taxing for <br />the new radio system and the money that the Fire District had saved for that purpose <br />could be used for the purchase of the SCBA's, <br /> <br />Motion bv Council Member Nelson. seconded bv Council Member Capra to <br />authorize the re-allocation of the money set aside for the radios for use to purchase <br />SCRA's for the Fire District in the amount of $95.000. All in favor. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Fire Chief Bennett thanked Council for its approval and then asked for approval to <br />expend donated funds to purchase 12 new defibrillators as the ones purchased in 1993 <br />have become outdated, <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg asked if the defibrillators would work on adults and children, Fire <br />Chief Bennett indicated that the units would work down to 8 years old, He then <br />explained that, based on research by leading experts, it is not recommended that the <br />defibrilJators be used on children younger than 8, He further commented, however, that <br />next year it would be possible to upgrade each unit to do so at a cost of $1 00.00 per unit. <br /> <br />Motion bv Council Member Capra, seconded by Council Member Nelson to <br />approve the purchase of 12 new defibrillators and supplies for the Fire District <br />usin!! the $23.000 from the Fire Fi!!hter's Charitable Gamblin!! Fund. All in favor. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Page 3 of 10 <br />
