<br />, <br /> <br />Cityof~. <br />Council Meeting Minules <br />May 8, 2002 <br /> <br />City Attorney Hoeft indicated that a temporary sign would not be grandfatbered. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson commented that Kelly's has been in CenterviIIe for a long time <br />and was forced to remove temporary signage that violated the sign code. <br /> <br />Council Member Travis asked whether a complaint is on file with the City. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson indicated the information bad been forwarded bye-mail to Ms. <br />Moore-Sykes. <br /> <br />Council directed Staff to send a letter to the businesses indicating they are in violation of <br />the sign code. <br /> <br />5. Street Reoair & Heat Patchinv/Seal Coatinf' <br /> <br />City Engineer Peterson indicated this matter was befure Council for approval to seal coat <br />the streets. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg asked what seal coating is. City Engineer Peterson explained that oil is <br />put down on the streets fullowed by small smooth stones that are then rolled in and traffic <br />drives on befure the extra rocks are swept up. He also explained that this adds to the <br />wear surfuce of the pavement extending the li:fu of the pavement. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg indicated he did not feel Deer Pass needed to be done and expressed <br />concern with doing Dupre Road in light of the impending construction traffic. <br /> <br />Mr. Patzer indicated that the seal coating may counteract the effi:cts of the construction <br />traffic. <br /> <br />city Engineer Peterson indicated that the seal coating would be done in July or August <br />and Eagle Pass will be done by then. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers asked whether there would be any real savings to the <br />City by eliminating some streets from the seal coating schedule fur 2002. Mr. PaIzer <br />indicated that for the price, seal coating is cheap maintenance for the City's streets. Mr. <br />Peterson indicated that the larger the project the lower the price and recommended <br />approval of the plan. <br /> <br />Motion bv Council Member Broussard Vieke1'll. seconded bv Council Member <br />Nelson to authorize plans and specifications fur the 2002 seal eoatinl! oroieet ocr the <br />recommendation ofthe City Enl!ineer and Pub6c Works Director. <br /> <br />Council Member Travis commented he did not feel that the two new streets needed to be <br />done and the money could be spent elsewhere. <br /> <br />Page 6 of! 0 <br />
