The nominations were sent out with utility billing
to approximately 1,800 residents, forms were available at City Hall and all council,
committee and commission members were reminded nomination forms were due. The
committee received three (3) nominations for Business of the Year, one (1) nomination
for Citizen of the Year and one (1) nomination for Lifetime Achievement. The committee
does not believe there is interest from the residents to participate in this program nor is it
EDC's function to be involved in Citizen of the Year or the Lifetime Achievement
Award. EDC would like to continue with the Business Person of the Year Award as it
directly relates to EDC. The committee would like to continue taking nominations for
the Business Person of the Year until the next scheduled EDC meeting scheduled for
April 13, 2004.

Motion was made by Chairperson Burke, seconded by Vice-Chairperson Backman
to forward the Citizen of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award nominations
on to City Council for further consideration with no recommendation from the
Economic Development Committee. EDC would like to maintain and present the
Business Person ofthe Year Award. All in favor. Motion passed unanimously.
