<br />8. <br /> <br />Verifies building permits, licenses, and competency cards of persons engaged ill <br />construction projects in the City. <br /> <br />( <br /> <br />9. Recommends corrective measures or revisions for the City Ordinance related to zoning, <br />building code compliance, permitting process, etc. <br /> <br />10. Creates reports based on observations made during inspections and investigations, with <br />regard to building code compliance, zoning ordinances, contract specifications, permit <br />work, and complaints. <br /> <br />II. Requires the ability to be handle extensive contact with the general public and other <br />employees. <br /> <br />PERIPHERAL DUTIES: <br />1. Attends professional development workshops and conferences to keep current of trends <br />and developments associated with building inspections and Public Works. <br /> <br />2. Keeps up to date on changes to Minnesota Statutes that affect the building inspections. <br /> <br />( <br /> <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: <br />Education and Experience <br />I. Certification of a building inspector. <br /> <br />2. Considerable knowledge of and experience in city government structure and organization. <br /> <br />3. Experience working with city procedures, ordinances, state and federal laws, rules and <br />regulations governing building inspections. <br /> <br />4. Experience with public works functions, including streets, parks, water distribution, <br />storm water and sanitary sewer collection systems. <br /> <br />5. Knowledgeable in the operation of heavy equipment, mechanical repair and building <br />maintenance. <br /> <br />6. High school diploma or equivalent. <br /> <br />DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES: <br /> <br />I. One year of building inspections experience or two years of building construction <br />experience. Considerable knowledge oflocal, state and federal building codes pertaining <br />to building materials, workmanship and construction methods. <br /> <br />2. Considerable knowledge of construction materials, workmanship and construction <br />methods. <br /> <br />3. Considerable ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications involving <br />architectural, structural, mechanical electrical and engineering designs. <br />
