Hopefully, this letter will allay your concerns and clear up any confusion. According to the 2004 Residential Street Improvements Feasibility Study that was approved by the City Council in December 2003, page 3, two (2) streets will be milled and overlaid as part of this project: Peterson Trail from Fox Run north to 73,d Street and 73m Street from 20'" Avenue east to Brian Drive (Figure 1). As the project went forward, the City Engineer determined that the condition of the roadway on 73,d Street from 20'" Avenue to Brian Drive was far worse than anticipated, given the age of the street. Apparently, the base of the roadway has been washed away over time and is not sufficient to support a mill and overlay. Mr. Peterson approached the City Council to ask them what they wanted to do about this situation. The options that he presented included continuing with the mill and overlay, understanding that it would last only the 5 years that this process buys a roadway before it has to be reconstructed; to move up the total reconstruction of 7:3'd Street from 20'" Avenue to Brian Drive to the current year; or do nothing to the roadway at this time and schedule the reconstruction of this roadway in a year or two. The City Council decided to let the affected residents have an opportunity to voice their opinion and directed Staff to mail out a survey with the options that Mr. Peterson presented to the City Council. To that end, Staff mailed out these questions
