I. <br />" , <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and Council Members <br /> <br />FROM: Teresa Bender, City Clerk <br /> <br />SUBJECT: High Speed Internet, Cable Modem ServicelPublic Works (7087 - 20th <br />Avenue South) <br /> <br />DATE: October 27, 2004 <br /> <br />Upon speaking with several members of the Public Works Department/Building <br />Inspections, only one individual has streamline internet access. I contacted Comcast and <br />the City's representative, Ms. Donnelly-Cohen at Comcast regarding a quote for services. <br />Ms. Donnelly-Cohen stated that there would no charge for the drop to the building. The <br />cable service and modem would have a monthly charge of $42.95. <br /> <br />I contacted Rose from North Metro Telecommunications Commission and asked about <br />wiring and a network hub. She stated that she had access to an unused hub and there <br />would be no cost to the City for the hub or her services. She stated that her schedule <br />would be free in three (3) weeks for installation. Comcast stated that they could complete <br />the installation in two (2) weeks. <br /> <br />Mr. Palzer has stated that this cabling and high speed internet access is needed for use <br />with the City's new SCADA system and can also be utilized for quicker access to the <br />internet by staff. <br /> <br />Staff is requesting Council's consideration of these services. <br />
