Stat. ~ 471.6151. <br /> <br />s <br /> <br />Lawful purposes for which profits from lawful gambling may be expended <br />include, among others: <br /> <br />. Contributions to non-profit or festival organizations; <br /> <br />. Contributions to individuals or families suffering from poverty, <br />homelessness, or physical or mental disability; <br /> <br />. Contributions to an individual for treatment of delayed post-traumatic <br />stress syndrome or to a program recognized by the Minnesota Dept. of <br />Human Services for the education, prevention or treatment of compulsive <br />gambling; <br /> <br />. Contributions to or expenditures on registered or accredited public or <br />private non-profit educational institutions; <br /> <br />. Contributions to a scholarship fund for defraying the cost of education to <br />individuals where the funds are awarded through an open and fair <br />selection process; <br /> <br />. Contributions to funding activities by an organization or government <br />entity that recognize humanitarian or military service to the United <br />States, the State of Minnesota or a cornmunity; <br /> <br />. Contributions for recreational, cornmunity, and athletic facilities and <br />activities intended primarily for persons under age 21, provided that such <br />facilities and activities do not discriminate on the basis of gender and the <br />organization complies with Minnesota Statute Section 349.154; <br /> <br />. Contributions tn the United States, the State of Minnesota or any <br />political subdivision, or any agency or any subdivision thereof, other <br />than a direct contribution to a law enforcement or prosecutnrial agency; <br /> <br />. Contributions to or expenditures on an approved wildlife management <br />project that benefits the public at large; <br /> <br />. Expenditures approved by the commissioner of natural resources for <br />grooming and maintaining snowmobile and all-terrain vehicle trails; <br /> <br />. Expenditures for conducting nutritional programs, food shelves, and <br />congregate dining rooms primarily for persons who are 62 or older or <br />disabled; and <br /> <br />. Contributions to a community arts organization or an expenditure to <br />sponsor arts programs in the community, including, but not limited to, <br />visual, literary, performing or musical arts. <br /> <br />Profits received from lawful gambling may not be expended for the purpose <br />of influencing the nomination or election of a candidate for public office, for <br />promoting or defeating a ballot question, or for influencing the governmental <br />decision-making process. Organizations may not make a contribution to a <br />city with the knowledge that the city intends tn use the contribution for a <br />pension or retirement fund, nor may cities use contributions derived from <br />lawful gambling for the benefit of a pension or retirement fund. <br /> <br />League of Minnesota Cities <br />
