MentO", TO: FROM: Honorable Mayor and Council Memben ~ Kim Stephan SUBJECT: Economic Development Committee Recommendations & Requests DATE: April 14, 2004 The Economic Development Committee made the foUowing recommendations & requests for City Councll consideration at their April 13, 2004 committee meeting. BII-iness Person of the Year The Economic Development Committee discussed the nominations for Business Person of the Year. Committee Member Smith had been nominated as owner of Centerville Pet Foods, but opted to turn down the nomination. The committee then voted on the other nomination and would like to recommend to City Council the 2003 Business Person of the Year Award be presented to Brenda McLean, Hansel & Gretel. Motion was made by Committee Member Smith, seconded by Committee Member Ebel to recommend to City Council awarding the 2003 Business Person of the Year Award to Ms. Brenda McLean of Hansel & GreteL The committee reqnests council direct staff to purchase a plaque not to exceed 550, to be presented at the Business Appreciation Barbeque, May 11, 2004. AU in favor. Motion carried unanimously. ~esillDation of Committee Member Betsv ScheUer Committee Member Betsy ScheUer has resigned from the Economic Development Committee. The committee would like to acknowledge Ms. Scheller's contributions to the City ofCenterville with a plaque. Motion was made by Chairpenon Burke, seconded by Vice-Chairpenon Backman to request City Council direct staff to purchase a plaque not to exceed $50, to be presented to Ms. Betsy Scheller for her dedication to the Economic Development Committee. AU in favor. Motion carried unanimously.
