City of Centerville <br />City Council Meeting <br />May 13, 2009 <br />Mayor Capra reported that the City has another group of CERT volunteers in training. <br />Former Councilmember Lakso, the new CERT Director, would like to use 1688 Sorel <br />Street on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, for their Graduation Drill. <br />Councilmember Lee stated that he believed that would be wonderful use of that property. <br />Motion by Council Member Lee, seconded by Council Member Paar, to approve <br />CERT Request to Utilize 1688 Sorel Street for their Graduation Drill. All in favor. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />4. Consider Resolution Opposing Anoka County Airport Expansion <br />Mayor Capra reported that there is concern that larger planes flying over Centerville will <br />result in a much higher noise level and additional traffic, which would increase the chances <br />for more accidents. This expansion would come right over Centerville. <br />Discussion ensued. <br />Motion by Council Member Lee, seconded by Council Member Paar to table any <br />action, opposing the Anoka County Airport Expansion, until the next City Council <br />Meeting. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br />IX. ANNOUNCEMENTS/UPDATES <br />1. City Administrator, Dallas Larson <br />a. H1N1 Novel Influenza Virus (Swine Flu Outbreak <br />Mayor Capra stated that the City Council will keep the public informed. The <br />public can also obtain more information from the Chief of Police and on links to <br />the County website. <br />b. Census 2010 <br />City Administrator Larson stated that workers have been recruited to do <br />preliminary work associated with census-taking in the area. They are looking for <br />people, like the homeless, who need to be counted. <br />Mayor Capra stated that the workers do carry identification. <br />Councilmember Fehrenbacher stated that they use GPS so they can plug in the data <br />or show that specific house has been counted. <br />c.
