Goals and Objectives

Mavor Swedberg's goals:

1. Communications. Mayor Swedberg felt that this item was of the
utmost importance. Mayor Swedberg felt that the website, cable
channel and newsletter were extremely good avenues for
communication to the residents. Council Member Capra stated
that an effort was needed to obtain volunteers to serve on
committees/commissions for a one-year term and the importance
of resident input. Mr. DeVine stated that goals and deadlines of
committee/commissions should be of high importance. Ms.
Nelson suggested that a Communications Ad Hoc Committee be
formed to gather information on the avenues the City currently has
available, determine if the information is readily available,
determine whether residents are informed or do not want to be
informed and make recommendations for modifications if deemed
appropriate. Ms. Patricia Scott and Ms. Theresa Brenner stated
interest in participating on same.

Mayor Swedberg felt that goals must lead to action and be
implemented. Mayor Swedberg stated that Council needed to set
policy, make budgets, allocate it, and make sure that services to the
citizens are what is desired.

2. Youth Recreation. Council Member Capra stated that Mr. Todd
Murawski, Wargo Nature Center, has expressed an interest in
working with the Parks and Recreation Committee.

3. Downtown Revitalization. Mayor Swedberg felt that the property
located by County Road 14 and 35E be contained in a concept
plan. Council Member Travis suggested uniformity in exterior
building products and architectural design. Mr. March felt that the
City did not want to blend with other communities and desired to
express their own individuality.

Mr. March suggested inviting several firms to submit design
sketches for the downtown area. Mr. March stated his willingness
to contact same.

Council Member Nelson's goals:

1. Re-routing of County Road 14. Safety issues surrounding County Road
14 and the 35E on/offramps.
2. Working with the committees/commissions and establishing uniform by-
laws.
3. Procedures - check list that corresponds with codes, based on ordinances.
