<br />Aprilll,2001 <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br /> <br />Council Member Capra stated that AT&T Broadband currently is not fulfilling its <br />agreements under current franchises with other cities. As such, Commissioners are eager <br />to go to the formal process. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers asked where the money would come from to fund <br />the formal process. Mr. March indicated there is $75,000 in reserve and that anywhere <br />along the way the City of Centerville can opt to stop funding the process. Mr. March <br />indicated the cable fund may be depleted but explained that the fund is continually added <br />to. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg asked if the Commission or the City had any leverage. City Attorney <br />Hoeft stated the only leverage for either side knows how much you want to put the other <br />side through the process. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers asked if there is any kind of negative publicity that <br />would reflect on AT&T Broadband in this situation. Mr. March noted AT&T Broadband <br />is telling customers that the cities are holding up the franchise so they cannot offer <br />customers Broadband. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Broussard Vickers. seconded by Council Member <br />Capra to waive the readin!!: and approve Resolution 01-010 as presented. All in <br />favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Council recessed at 8:28 p.m. <br />Council Member Travis left the meeting at 8:28 p.m. <br />Council reconvened at 8:35 p.m. <br /> <br />6. Parks and Recreation Recommendations <br /> <br />Council Member Capra noted she had spoken with Ms. Lien regarding the dollar amounts <br />and sees no problem approving the recommendation. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Capra. seconded by Mayor Swedberl!: to approve Parks <br />and Recreation Recommendations and to approve an amount not to exceed $800 for <br />nroe;rams at the War!!:o Nature Center and an amount not to exceed $500 for <br />advertisinl!: those prOl!:rams. AIl in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg asked if anyone was interested in serving as the liaison to the Parks and <br />Recreation Committee. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson stated she did not feel it was appropriate for a Council Member <br />to have an influence at the committee meetings. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra stated that Wednesday nights do not work for her. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers volunteered to be the liaison. <br /> <br />Page II of 14 <br />
