April!I,200! Council Meeting Minutes It was the consent of Council to appoint Council Member Broussard Vickers as the Parks and Recreation Council Liaison. 7. Community Gardens Mr. March noted this item was in packets for informational purposes. Mr. March further noted there were rumors flying around town about the expense for the garden but stated he felt the community gardens could be self-sufficient or actually make money in the future. Council Member Capra asked how much would be charged for a plot. Mr. March indicated a 15x40 plot would cost $35 for the growing season. Mayor Swedberg stated he thought Public Works could dig up plots so the cost estimate surprised him. Council Member Broussard Vickers asked that an article be put in the newsletter to determine the interest level and recommended that the gardens start small and grow as interest grows. Mr. Sweeney noted that putting the garden behind City Hall may be a problem as there may not be parking for firefighters when responding to a call. Mr. March noted there should not be a traffic jam as those interested in gardens have varied schedules and he did not expect all gardeners to be there at the same time. Council Member Capra asked to have a statement concerning the gardens put on the cable channel and investigate putting plots at Chauncey Barrett Gardens. Council Member Capra asked Mr. March to research with the County whether the County property could be used for a garden. 8. Resolution #01-008 (Abatement Parkview Assessment) 9.
