.

,

Laurie LaMotte Park:

Specifications for Electrical and Concrete
Ms. Lien explained she had included a copy ofthe specifications for running electrical
and pouring concrete in the ice rink from City Engineer, Tom Peterson. She also
included copies of the advertisement for bids. The bids will be accepted at City Hall on
Tuesday, May 22,2001 at 1:30 p.rn. Ms. Lien mentioned that Mr. March had suggested
the Committee recommend that the section where a proposed overhead power wire
(OHP) be placed underground along with the rest of the underground wire. Ms.
Broussard Vickers shared that City Council is already looking into this issue with Mr.
Peterson. Apparently he can change the plans by amending the hid process. The
Committee agrees with Mr. March and Council regarding eliminating the OHP.

Wheels Park
Ms. Lien shared that she had received information from Earl F. Anderson (EF A)
regarding their "Skate Wave" equipment. They have a complete line of skate park
equipment, including rails (which are very popular with the youth). Ms. Lien mentioned
that after reviewing the information, it seems to be much nicer equipment and constructed
better than what SunRamp Solutions offers.

Mr. Peterson suggested having another informational meeting with the youth to let them
help determine what type of equipment/ramps they would like to see at the park. The
Committee elected to have another "Informational Meeting on Wheels Park" on
Wednesday, June 20, 2001 at 7:00 p.rn. at City Hall. Ms. Lien will notifY the Quad,
create a flyer to distnbute at the local businesses for promotion, place it on the sign in
front of City Hall, and on the cable channel and web site.

NEW BUSINESS

Parks and Recreation Coordinator
Mr. LeBlanc explained he had requested this be placed on the agenda for the Committee
to consider the following reasons to consider a Park Coordinator:

I. Promote and advertise activities
2. Registrations
3. Collect fees / Issue Receipts
4. Track and coordinate use of fields / leagues
5. Communications (record budget items / keep running balance)

Mr. Peterson commented that he felt the Committee should wait with hiring a coordinator
until next year. After this first year, the Committee can review the level of interest and
be able to wage the necessities better for next year. Additionally, this hasn't been
included in the budget for this year.

4
