~

.I

Mr. Walter commented that as many kids use the soccer fields, as do the softball fields.
He doesn't agree with taking away land from either one to make the other within
regulation standards.

Ms. Broussard Vickers suggested contacting the church to see if they would be willing to
rent the land adjacent to the park property to the City. If the church is willing to rent to
the City, this property could be used for several soccer fields, and additional parking
space. Ms. Broussard Vickers shared the importance of explaining the needs of the entire
City to the parish, and not just the needs of one individual. There is a social aspect that
the parish will need to consider, which will benefit the entire City and the church as well.

Mr. Walter and Ms. DeVine will write a letter to the church requesting to rent the
property abutting the parkland, and will figure the cost estimates to make all of the fields
within regulation size.

Mr. Peterson will obtain cost estimates for moving the backstops and outfield fencing.

Motion by Mr. Peterson, seconded by Mr. LeBlanc to recommend to City Council to
move tbe backstop on field # 2, and the outfield fencing on field # 3, at Laurie
LaMotte Memorial Park, per USSSA standards and requirements. Porter, DeVine,
Peterson, LeBlanc - aye. Walter - nay. Motion carried.

Mr. Peterson will measure the soccer field. Mr. Porter will write a letter to Mr. Johnson
of the Centennial Soccer Club regarding the situation, after he receives Mr. Petersons
measurements.

Trail Map Brochure Samples
Mr. LeBlanc submitted brochures distributed by the City of Circle Pines, and his own
drawings/proposals for the City of Centerville. His proposals are very similar to what
Circle Pines offers. Ms. DeVine forgot to bring her samples.

Mr. LeBlanc will attend the Economic Development Committee Meeting in July to see if
they would be willing to participate in the trail map brochures.

Wargo Nature Center Activities Fiver
Ms. Lien explained she had included two (2) copies of the flyer for approval. One is in
black and white, the other in color. Per her experience, color copies will be too
expensive to print for distnbution at the schools. Ms. Lien had contacted Kathy
Millington at Centerville Elementary, who commented that it shouldn't be a problem
distributing the flyer with the children. Ms. Millington suggested contacting Kathy
Weiland at the District Office for her approval first. The Committee requested moving
the "Call City Hall" to the top of the page instead of being on the bottom. Ms. Lien will
update, forward to Kathy Weiland for approval, bring to the printer and distribute
accordingly.

3
