May 23, 2001
Council Meeting Minutes

Mayor Swedberg reviewed the goals document and requested input.

Motion bv Council Member Capra, seconded bv Council Member Nelson to
approve the goals document as presented.

Council Member Nelson requested that the document be grammaratically corrected prior
to forwarding to committees and commissions for their review.

Council Member Travis stated that he felt some of the goals were lofty, but stated that all
the items in the document were good items for the City.

Council Member Broussard Vickers stated that she had an issue with the sentence that
implied that the City would build a multi-purpose facility.

Consensus was to remove the sentence referenced by Council Member Broussard
Vickers.

Mr. Brian Walters, 1855 Quebec, stated that his issues with the document stemmed from
the tone of the document which implied that Council would inform
commissions/committees as to what they would do rather than let the Committees
formulate ideas based on public input and present them to Council. Mr. Walters was
comfortable with the document subsequent to Council's modification.

Mayor Swedberg thanked Council Members for going through the process to approve the
goals documcnt.

Council Member Nelson explained to Mr. Walters that she feels it is Council's job to
keep commissions/committees focused so issues and efforts are not duplicated.

Ms. Brenner, 7206 Clear Ridge, thanked Mayor Swedberg for all of his work on the goals
document and stated that she felt it was a valuable tool.

IX. NEW BUSINESS

I. Eagle Pass Town Home Association Petition

Mr. Hoeft stated he had reviewed the petition and there were no specific procedural
obligations on the part of the City for potentially accepting responsibility for Ojibway
Drive. Mr. Hoeft stated that the primary concern of residents is maintaining the street,
however, Council needs to consider the substandard width and unknown base of the
street.

Council Member Capra questioned the town home associations joint responsibilities.

Council Member Broussard Vickers explained that the l,otential members of the third
town home association, that would be formed with the 2" Phase, would be driving across
the other town home association' road. Council Member Broussard Vickers stated that
