<br />----- <br /> <br />CENTERVILLE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE <br />THEME WORKSHOP <br />MARCH 21, 2000 <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Centerville Economic Development Committee held <br />a City Theme Workshop prior to their regularly scheduled meeting on March 21,2000 at City <br />Hall, 1880 Main Street. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />EDC Chairperson Tim Rehbine <br />Committee Member Mary Capra <br />Committee Member Lori Dom <br />Committee Member Paul Montain <br />Committee Member John Magill <br />Committee Member Besty Scheller <br />Committee Member Michelle Moser <br />Council Member Liaison Dick Travis <br /> <br />Staff: <br /> <br />City Administrator Jim March <br />EDC/StaffLiaison Aimee Fairbrother <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />WORKSHOP CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Chairperson Tim Rehbine called the workshop to order at 6: 1 0 p.rn. The following were present: <br />Joe Goetz, Ray DeVine, Rob Sheppard, Todd Christophersoll, Linda Broussard Vickers, Wayne <br />LeBlanc, Karla DeVine, Monica Travis, Carol Erks, Shelly LaBarre, Carol Charais, Bob Sheeran <br />and Bruce Romy. <br /> <br />Mr. Larry Wacker from Sanders, Wacker and Bergly In.c. was present and gave a presentation <br />relating to the roles his firm takes when hired by a city as community consultant. Mr. Wacker <br />described how his organization is able to create a community development master plan based on <br />projects desired by the city. Mr. Wacker indicated that when a community is looking at the "big <br />picture" of a redevelopment change, the project could stretch out to surrounding communities, <br />area parks and even the highway systems. Major elements in a redevelopment should include: <br />transportatioll, auto safety, pedestrian safety, neighborhoods, park systems, and downtown issues <br />along with theme, lighting, pavement styles, etc. Mr. Wacker stated it is important to prioritize e <br />issues, set goals associated with the issues, and work them into the planning process. <br /> <br />Mr. Wacker stressed one of his firms roles is to get the planning process out to everyone <br /> <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
