<br />. <br /> <br />5. Skin Preparation Procedures. The procedures in this Subsection must be used for <br />skin preparation. <br /> <br />A. The operator must wash hands thoroughly with soap and water <br />following the hand washing procedures as approved by the Health <br />Authority and then dry them with a clean towel before and after <br />each tattooing. Operators with skin infections of the hand may not <br />perfonn any tattooing, body piercing, body branding or body <br />painting service. <br />B. If it is necessary to shave the skin, pre-packaged, pre-sterilized, <br />disposable, razor blades shall be used. <br />C. The skin area to be tattooed, pierced, branded or painted must be <br />thoroughly cleaned with germicidal soap, rinsed thoroughly with <br />water, and sterilized with an antiseptic solution approved by the <br />Health Authority. Single-service towels and wipes must be used in <br />the skin cleaning process. <br />D. After tattooing, piercing or branding, a sterile dressing must be <br />applied to the tattooed, pierced or branded area <br /> <br />6. Operating Furniture. Tables, chairs, furniture, or area on which a patron received <br />a tattoo, body piercing, body branding or body painting must be impervious to <br />moisture and properly sanitized after each tattoo, body piercing, body branding or <br />body painting. The surfuce must be covered by single-service disposable paper or <br />clean linens. <br /> <br />7. Towels. An operator must provide single-service towels or wipes for each <br />customer or person and such towels or wipes must be stored and disposed of in a <br />manner acceptable to the Health Authority. <br /> <br />8. Garments of Operator. An operator must wear clean, washable garments when <br />engaged in the practice of tattooing, body piercing, body branding or body <br />painting. If garments are contaminated with blood or body fluids, the garment <br />must be removed, changed and discarded or sterilized by an approved method. <br /> <br />9. Pigments. Pigments used in tattooing must be sterile and free from bacteria and <br />noxious agents and substances including mercury. The pigments used from stock <br />solutions for each customer must be placed in a single-service receptacle, and <br />such receptacle and remaining solution must be discarded after use on each <br />customer in accordance with procedures approved by the Health Authority. <br /> <br />10. Code Compliance. The facility must meet all relevant building codes and federal <br />law related to access. <br /> <br />11. Influence of Alcohol and Drugs. It is unlawful to practice tattooing, body <br />piercing, body branding or body painting while under the influence of alcoholic <br /> <br />Page 6 of 7 <br />
