Dear Mayor and Council Members, Please consider this my official notice of interest in the city council seat recently vacated by Wnda Broussard Vickers. My name is Samara A. Carter, residing at 6913 Sumac Court. I am currenUy employed by the Slate of Minnesota, Department of Health and have worked in the public seclorforthe pasl26 years. I have been a Centerville resident since February 2003 when I married Michael Carter, a Centerville home owner and resident since 1989. Before moving here,l had been a long time resident and home owner in the city of Minneapolis. I enjoyed big city living for quite some time, but when the opportunity to move into a smaller prospering community presented itself, I found the option quite attractive. I vividly remember myfirst visit to Centerville in early 2002. It was 2 days after a big snowfall and when leaving my home in Minneapolis, the car got stuck at the end of the driveway, because the street had not been plOWed on the "even side". I arrived Michael's home in Centerville and was pleasanUy surprised to see the streets plowed curb to cum. I asked Michael if the streets were always plowed that quickly and without hesitation the answer was "yes". I was impressed by the fact that the city was responsive to the needs of the citizens and in a timely manner. I have spent many 2"" and 4'" Wednesdays watChing the City Council meetings on cable TV and learning about what's important to the citizens of Centerville: quality of IMng, the environment, community celebration, fiscal responsibility and community growth balanced with economic development, just to name a few. My interest in public service has followed me through my working career. As member of the council this position would allow for continued personal growth in government operations. I am confident that if glven the opportunity to serve on the city council I will represent the concems of the citizens and bring an objective point of view on other community issues.
