.

TO: Honorable Mayor & City Council Members
FROM: Kim Stephan v>

SUBJECT: Parks & Recreation Committee Recommendation
Chain of Lakes YMCA Park Play Days at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park

DATE: March 4, 2005

Ms. len Smith, Chain of Lakes YMCA requested the Parks & Recreation Committee consider the
following request.

The YMCA is currently working on summer programs and wondered if offering Park Play Days again
would be a option? We are considering the following:

A seven (7) week program, July tbrough most of August.
Mondays & Wednesdays for ages 8-12
Tuesdays & Tbursdays for ages 4- 7
10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Sports themed, but we wiD also offer crafts and other cooperative games
$56 for the entire 7 weeks ($2/hr)

The YMCA would like to offer Park Play Days at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park as we have the past
two years, but make the program longer - 7 weeks as opposed to the two or three weeks that we have
done in the past. This would be an option for kids who are home with parents, but need something to
do for part of the day, and it would be for the wbole seven weeks, not a pick and choose thing.

The Parks & Recreation Committee would like to support this program and made the following
motion:

Motion was made by Vice-Chairperson LeBlanc, seconded by Committee Member Peil to
recommend to City Council approving tbe Cbain of Lakes YMCA Park Play Days at Laurie
LaMotte Memorial Park for tbe 2005 summer season and the use of tbe warming bouse for tbe
program. AU in favor. Motion passed unanimously.
