Overview

The following report highlights the accomplishments and activity of the Media
Center and Cable Commission in 2004.

It was a nearly perfect year. In the area of community programming we
upgraded the cameras in the production truck, expanded our internship program,
attracted new producers from the public, and managed to somehow surpass
most of our production records from the previous year.

Meanwhile, the Commission worked hard on rate regulation issues and wrapped
up close to three years of very intense work on a new state-of-the-art production
facility.

Public Access

Structurally, we have two basic departments; the public access department and
the staff production department. Two staff members are entirely devoted to
working with our community producers. They accomplish this through class
instruction, tours, assisting the public with their video projects, and scheduling
the channel.

When one considers that the facility was actually unavailable to the general
public for close to three months, due to packing, the move, and then unpacking
and set up, 2004's numbers are actually statistically better than the previous
year's. Even considering our down time, the number of classes taught and
programs produced by the general public were only slightly lower than last year.
The number of students participating in classes increased due to a series of
classes we taught at the Centennial Learning Center.

Other areas worth noting include equipment usage trends, the annual volunteer
award ceremony, and the energizing affect of new producers.

Equipment Update

While there weren't any equipment acquisitions in 2004 specifically for use by the
general public, the equipment upgrades from 2003 started to reach their
potential.

3
